Therapy can be helpful when we feel that all is not well and our emotions seem all over the place or out of control. At these times, we can feel vulnerable and alone and it can be difficult to share how we feel with close friends and family.

This is where I can help.

Psychotherapy & Counselling

For many people embarking on a period of therapy is the firststep to taking control of their lives.

Therapy can feel strange at first.  It is not like going to see a doctor who will prescribe something to make you better. It is about you helping yourself to understand how you think, feel and behave and to understand the defences you have created that are now getting in the way of you leading an autonomous life.  I am sensitive to this and will take care to help you work through it.

Counselling

In general, I use counselling with clients who come to therapy with a clear issue to be worked through – for example, as a result of a recent bereavement or a relationship breakdown

I use a wide range of psychotherapeutic techniques including mindfulness, short-term cognitive behavioural therapies and longer term psychodynamic techniques. I work with adults, couples and young people on an open-ended, or session limited basis.

Psychotherapy

About Me

I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. I have been working as a therapist since 2006. I hold a masters degree in integrative psychotherapy and a post-graduate diploma in integrative psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

As well as working in private practice, I have provided workplace counselling services to large companies in Manchester and counselling and psychotherapy at a women’s centre and a sixth form college.

Before I became a psychotherapist, I worked in human resources management for a range of public and private sector organisations. I am a mother of two and live in South Manchester.
